Woof Woof!
With the price of puppies rising in the UK, many dog lovers have simply been priced out of giving a fur baby a loving home. This has obviously caused widespread upset...
But WHY do breeder charge what they charge?
When our mummy decided to start breeding us, she simply wanted to give us both the chance to have a litter... to experience being a mummy... and to enrich the lives of the families our babies would live with.
Even when prices rocketed, she intended to keep her prices affordable - to be the "nice breeder" who helped out those who couldn't afford the current price tags.
However, there's many things a responsible breeder needs to seriously consider.
If you charge below the current market value, the babies could end up in the wrong hands. The thought of one of our puppies ending up in a puppy farm... or may injure itself or become ill, - and be in a household that cant spare the money to get it the proper medical attention it needs and deserves... well, it gave her many sleepless nights.

Mummy spent a long time finding the perfect sire to mate us with. She did her research, she spoke to many breeders, and in the end she found the perfect little man - Mitch. The price of our pups was actually set by our baby daddy. Mummy had to agree a minimum price for resale. As Mitch is an award winner (on his way to becoming champion) and his bloodline is strong. The breeder explained she has put lots of effort into making Mitch as successful as he is today, and therefore she will not accept his pups being sold off cheap.
To be honest, it was a weight off mummy's mind! The bar had been set by the stud.
Since we started breeding, we have put thousands of pounds into what we do. We have a custom built whelping box (DM me for details if you are interested in purchasing one) We have the scanning equipment, the whelping knowledge, mummy is training to groom Westies. Not to mention the expense on food, loss of earnings from work to help us look after our babies in the early weeks. There's also things we luckily didn't need to pay, but they do need to be accounted for, for example: Mum may need a caesarean. There's so many factors to consider, which you may not appreciate when you set out looking for a new puppy.
What you have to ask yourself is - does my breeder care? Is my future baby part of the family? Or is it a few extra quid in someone pocket? Are they being brought into home that is going to love it as much as I will?
Westiepool is a special service. Our Pawrents have been brought together by their love of westies, and our mummy leads a group chat and shares daily Pupdates. They've created a little family, and they're part of the process from day one.

Sometimes in life, you get what you pay for. Be wise when looking for your new puppy.
Check out the breeder. Assess what they ask you (a link to a copy of our puppy application and contract example can be found on our page - so you can see the level of interest the breeder should have IN YOU)
You should have to sell yourself to them! Why YOU? Why should I let YOU purchase one of my babies? Can YOU afford the lifelong care of my puppy? Of all the breeds available - why do you want a westie? Make me love you, show me how warm you are!!
We also impose both legally binding, an KC registered T&C's at Westiepool. No breeding from our babies is permitted, no resale, no rehoming - if the puppy doesn't suit your family - they come back to our mummy... this is the level of detail you only get from a breeder who CARES.
And that, is priceless! xxx

Elsa is next to breed, we will be inseminating her (artificially) in September. Puppies will be available for rehoming early Feb 2022. If you would like to be considered to become a Pawrent - please review the application and contract on the links on our site (under the "More" drop down) Please send application to westiepool@hotmail.com and our mummy will be in touch with you.
